For general audience use "full" setting.
To challenge yourself, use the top sliders to select "negative only" terms
and "missing number" only problems, and choose only "nested brackets", "factor multiplication" and "multistep" problem types.

Number Thumber?
Assume you are given an arithmetic problem where you either have to perform a calculation or guess a missing number. Now imagine that the problem is nearly solved for you: you are to input only up to two digits into the expression, possibly, using your thumbs. You enter the left digit with the left thumb and the right digit with the right thumb. That’s it.
For example, consider the expression 23 + 94 = 1_ _. Left thumb needs to hit on 1 and the right on 7 to complete the expression 23 + 94 = 117. This is a “calculation” problem.
Now consider the expression 23 + _ _= 117. To solve it, the left thumb needs to hit 9 and the right number must hit 4. This is a “missing number” problem.
NUMBER THUMBER is highly configurable and it currently supports problems of 6 types. Each of the problem types can be independently toggled on or off for the particular gameplay.
1. Named one-step addition/subtraction under 100 and multiplication/division with arguments under 12 (standard multiplication tables). Each of the four elementary operation types can be independently toggled on or off. Perfect for the youngest of us.
2. Long addition/subtraction, with terms configurable up to 10,000 and long multiplication by a single digit number.
3. Nested brackets: 1 + ( 2 - ( 3 + 4 ) ) = _ or 1 + ( _ - ( 3 + 4 ) ) = - 4.
4. Factor multiplication: ( 1 + 2 )( 3 + 4 ) = __ or ( 1 + 2 )( 3 + _ ) = 21.
5. Direct addition/subtraction/multiplication/division of proper single- digit fractions.
6. Combinations of 3 operations: 1x2 + 3x4 = __ or 1x2 + _x4 = 14, including fractions.
The game can be configured to keep all terms positive (as in 1 + _ = 3 or 10 – 6 = _), or making them all negative ( -1 - (-_) = 1 ), or mix those situations ( 4 + (-7) = -_ ). It is possible to set the proportion of calculation vs missing number problems. It is possible to save and restore various game configurations.

This wonderful and very powerful drill game can be used in a great variety of situations: from helping very young children practice addition/subtraction bonds or standard multiplication tables, to preparing for mid-level Math Olympic-grade arithmetic challenges or an arithmetic-heavy job interview (think trading jobs in investment banking), or simply impressing your family and friends (and foes!) with your mental prowess.
